4 Meals to Warm You Up in DublinTown
- Wed, 28 Feb 2018
Feeling those beastly easterly winds? We’ve put together a list of some of our favourite winter dishes to warm your bones!
One upside to our current baltic weather conditions is that it’s given us the chance to get reacquainted with some of our favourite hearty dinners. With Storm Emma closing in, we take a look at some DublinTown dishes that’ll make you forget the cold – at least for a few mouthfuls.
An institution on Capel Street, the Boars Head is well known for their pub grub and their speciality is their traditional Irish stew. This rich beef stew will help keep the winter blues at bay.
Located on Liffey Street Lower, Lotts Bar is well-known for their traditional Dublin dish Coddle, a broth of sausages, bacon, potato, onion and parsley. The meal is served with Guinness brown bread that is perfect for dipping.
Over on Stephen Street Lower, the Hairy Lemon offers a whole range of homely, comforting meals, all served in a lively and relaxed atmosphere. Our pick is the traditional cottage pie, which consists of ground beef, onions, carrots in a rich stock, topped with mash potato & cheddar cheese served with brown bread & chips.
Having been immortalised in Ulysses, Davy Byrnes is a popular pit-stop for Joyce scholars retracing Leopold Bloom’s footsteps across Dublin. While the famous gorgonzola sandwich remains on their menu, in this weather, we’d recommend their roast breast of chicken and gravy for a tasty treat that’ll keep you toasty.
