Over a century since the formation of the modern Irish state, Gaeilge continues to be a tenet of Irish identity. While English remains the most-spoken language, in the years since the achievement of independence Ireland has become host to a variety of new communities from around the world.

As part of the Dublin Festival of History this year, One Tour- Three Languages delves into that achievement in Irish, English, and Polish, and so highlights our own heritage in the state’s two official languages while opening it up to a community with whom the struggle for, and formation of, that state has always resonated.

This tour tells the story of the key events which shaped modern Irish history including the 1916 Easter Rising, the Irish War of Independence, the Anglo-Irish Treaty, the Irish Civil War, and the Troubles, including the resulting peace process in Northern Ireland and the signing of the Good Friday Agreement in 1998.
