Dublin’s newest live music night hands the running order over to the audience: no lineup, no script, just a spin
Dublin, Ireland— There’s a new night landing at The Grand Social this September, and it runs on one simple, slightly chaotic idea: let the crowd decide.
On Tuesday, 29 September 2026, five of Dublin’s hottest up-and-coming acts, Soft Rules, SAOL, The Psychs, Conor Kinsella, and Punter, will take the stage for Irish Roulette, a one-night event where the running order isn’t set backstage; it’s set on a spinning wheel, by an audience member, live, in front of everyone.
Here’s how it works: all five names go up on the wheel. Through the night, punters get pulled up on stage to give it a spin, and whoever it lands on plays next. Nobody, not the bands, not the promoters, not the audience, knows the lineup until it’s happening in real time.
“We want to create a night where the audience is involved: you’re as much a part of the scene as we are,” says the event’s co-creator.
That’s the whole point: five genuinely different sounds, one bill, so nobody’s just there for the one band their mate’s brother plays bass in. Soft Rules bring the post-punk edge; SAOL slide in shoegazey and indie; The Psychs channel that old-school alt-rock swagger; Conor Kinsella brings jazz-punk chops and some of the most raw, genuine talent going; and Punter round it out with grunge. Different crowds, different corners of the scene, one room; and by the end of the night, a bit of cross-pollination that wouldn’t happen anywhere else.
Hosting duties go to an Irish comedian: Sean Fitzgerald, of Raiders Comedy Club, with an announcement about his involvement closer to the date.
