Shostakovich: Festive Overture Op.96
Prokofiev: Piano Concerto No. 3 Op.26 in C major
Prokofiev: Symphony No. 5 in B flat major

Founded in 1981, the Dublin based Hibernian Orchestra (formerly the Hibernian Chamber Orchestra) is now recognised as the leading voluntary orchestra in Ireland.

Join the Hibernian Orchestra for an electrifying evening of Russian masterpieces at the NCH.  The programme opens with Shostakovich’s brilliant Festive Overture, a sparkling curtain-raiser full of energy and triumph.  Prokofiev’s dazzling Piano Concerto No. 3 follows, a virtuosic and lyrical showpiece that remains one of the most beloved works of the piano repertoire.  The concert concludes with Prokofiev’s monumental Symphony No. 5 in B-flat major, a powerful and uplifting work that celebrates the resilience and grandeur of the human spirit.

Under the baton of John Finucane, this promises to be an inspiring and memorable evening of orchestral music.
