Beavertown, the brewery behind Neck Oil Session IPA, is bringing cold pints, live music and extraordinary everyday tales to Whelan’s, Dublin, on 7th October at 7pm, with the new wave of Beavertown Soundtrack Stories.
Featuring intimate performances, stories from the artists and tales from the audience, the night comes with a twist: selected guests will have their own true stories soundtracked live by the Beavertown Soundtrack Stories house band.
The audience and house band will be joined on the bill by live performances from Cork band Cardinals and hip hop artist Chameleon. Both acts will also take audiences behind the music, sharing the people, places and moments that have shaped their sound.
Hosted by Dublin comedians, Meg Reilly and Ross McCarney, the evening invites anyone with a story to tell to share its opening line when they arrive. It could be a narrow escape, a chance encounter or something that seemed like a spectacular idea at the time. The team will chat with selected guests and, if they’re happy to take the mic, invite them up to tell the rest. The audience brings the story; the house band brings the soundtrack.

“Great beer, live music and a pub full of character are familiar territory for Beavertown. Our beers and illustrated world are full of imagination, and Soundtrack Stories brings that creative spirit into the room, with the audience helping to write the evening.
“Ireland has a rich storytelling tradition, and we wanted to create an event that makes room for those funny, surprising, very human tales alongside the artists onstage. We’re bringing Neck Oil, the musicians and a house band ready for whatever comes next. The audience brings the stories we couldn’t possibly have scripted.”
Euan Manning, lead singer of Cardinals, said:
“Songs can mean completely different things to different people, and I think that’s what makes them interesting. You can write something from one place, then someone else can take it and attach it to a memory, a person or a moment that means something completely different to them.
“That relationship people have with music is really personal. The idea of bringing those stories into a room and sharing them feels like a good way to spend a night.”
At the bar, guests can enjoy Neck Oil, Beavertown’s refreshing 4.3% ABV Session IPA, with citrus and passionfruit notes and a light, crisp finish. Its distinctive flavour and colourful identity reflect the brewery’s bold approach to making beers with character and its ambition to stick it’s neck out and do things differently.
Following on from the success of the Soundtrack Stories series in June, the October event is taking the concept one step further by sharing the experience directly with Irish pubgoers.
