As part of the National Library of Ireland’s ongoing collaboration with the Ethiopian Community in Ireland, the Chair of the Board of ECI, Zelalem Dersehe, will present his work on the Band Aid archive and Live Aid exhibition. He will discuss the development of an African and Ethiopian perspective on the legacy of the 1983–85 famine and international humanitarian response. His work focuses on issues of representation, historical memory, ethical humanitarian practice, and the importance Ethiopian voices and experiences in public discourse and archival interpretation. Dr Sinéad McCoole will present an illustrated presentation on selected holdings from the NLI Collection relating to Ethiopia.
