Gear Jewellers of Parnell Street gets a make over
Written by Parnell Street’s best loved jewellers, Gear Jewellers, has undergone a major revamp and is looking better than ever.
The family run business has been providing Dubliners with quality jewellery since it opened its doors in 2008 in the height of the recession. Recently, the store was refurbished to give customers that wow experience as soon as they walk through the door.
Owner, Jeff Gear, is part of a legacy of family jewellers who have been in the business since 1969. His father, Thomas Gear, opened his first jeweller shop in 1969 in the front porch of the family home in Dolphins Barn before expanding to a business premises in Dublin’s Ilac Centre.
Over the decades, the Gear name has carried on with the next generation starting their respective prosperous businesses. Gear Jewellers of Parnell Street has come on in leaps and bounds over the years having started out in the recession it’s recent redesign has added more space with customers greeted now greeted with a lavish interior design.
Speaking about the store’s new look, Jeff said:
With dark wood lacquer throughout, complimented by soft grey suede furnishings, the jewellery on offer comes to life; customers can view each piece of jewellery up close and personal in every showcase. The piece de resistance however is a curved diamanté feature wall at the rear of the shop; even from the street the allure of the glittering wall draws you in and is the perfect backdrop to the expansive diamond ring counter. The store gives the public a far more modern and glamorous shopping experience.
When the Parnell Street store first opened, it had just a few items of stock and now it has become one of the finest jewellers in Dublin, which is down to Jeff’s vast experience and knowledge of the jewellery trade. Adding to the store’s success story is the creative direction of Manager Muireann Walshe who helped Gear Jewellers expand into a premises four times bigger and more luxurious than their first boutique store.
The dynamic team of sales consultants in this store have various backgrounds including: De Beers Diamond Training, Jewellery Design (B.Des), Product Design (B.Des), and Design History (MA). This has only enhanced the consumer experience who are given the VIP treatment as soon as they are greeted.
