Beloved French restaurant Entrecôte, with locations in Paris, London, New York & more, to open in Dublin tomorrow

Beloved French institution Entrecôte today announced it will open a Dublin restaurant tomorrow on Clarendon Street, Dublin 2. Since its inception in 1962 in Toulouse, inspired by the original Le Relais de Venise in Paris, this classic French brasserie concept has expanded to cities like Paris, Tokyo, London and New York and now Dublin marks the group’s next opening.

Identifiable overseas by the queues of hundreds of eager diners outside, the restaurant concept is beloved by millions worldwide and now Dublin is next, with the craze being brought to Irish shores by an esteemed Irish businessman.

“After a huge amount of research and travel, I realised it was one of the best concepts globally and I wanted to bring it to Dublin,” said Paul McGlade Jnr, the Irish hospitality guru at the helm of the project. “I counted hundreds of people queuing for a table at their restaurant in Toulouse, on a random Tuesday, and I thought… Dublin needs this! It’s such a great product at a great price. I think what we’re offering is excellent value and half the price of what people are paying in the city at the moment. For us the quality is what’s most important”.

With restaurants in major cities such as Paris, Lyon, Toulouse, Tokyo, New York and London, the Entrecôte group has become a firm favourite among food lovers worldwide thanks to its no-menu approach and signature secret sauce. Traditionally, the group operates with exactly the same set menu wherever it goes, but Dublin will mark a notable twist. In a move designed to showcase the very best of Irish produce, Entrecôte Dublin will exclusively serve Tipperary beef and potatoes harvested in Donegal, setting it apart from every other Entrecôte restaurant globally, with a touch of the best of Ireland.

McGlade Jnr explained: “All of our beef comes from Tipperary and all of our potatoes are Irish too, adding a lovely Irish twist to this beloved French concept. We believe in quality and simplicity, and that’s the entire concept really. By making this small but important change, we’re adding a uniquely Irish chapter to the Entrecôte story.”

In keeping with the group’s global format, the Dublin restaurant will operate on a first come first served basis with walk-ins only, which honours the brand’s trademark queues of eager diners spilling out onto the street.

For just €29.95, diners will enjoy a green salad starter with pickled onions, Irish sourdough bread with local butter and Achill Island seaweed salt, followed by two servings of tender Tipperary beef steak drenched in Entrecôte’s world-famous secret sauce, accompanied by bottomless hand-cut crispy French fries made with Irish potatoes.

For those with room for more, Entrecôte Dublin have enlisted world class French pastry chef Ludovic Lantier who has won countless awards and will also offer patrons a selection of desserts for just €10 with Tarte Tatin Aux Pommes (caramelised Irish apple tart, grilled vanilla bourbon mascarpone cream and Irish apple brandy chantilly), Profiteroles À La Vanille (vanilla filled choux puffs topped with warm dark chocolate sauce and toasted caramelized almonds), Mousse Au Chocolat De Grand-Mère (single origin Saint – Domingue chocolate mousse, rich and silky served with sweet shortbread or fruity olive oil and Achill Island salt) and Cold Brew Irish Coffee with Nutmeg Cultured Cream (Teeling small batch Irish whiskey and Bewley’s Irish coffee).

A masterfully curated wine list will serve as the only drinks menu as brought to life by our manager and sommelier Tanguy Gros Daillon, with the figure behind the Dublin edition adding “We are lucky to work with amazing suppliers that gives us the opportunity to offer some of the best wines coming from all over the world, keeping on the list something for everybody’s taste buds and budget”.

Entrecôte Dublin will open Wednesday and Thursday from 5:00PM – 10:00PM and Friday – Sunday from 12:00PM – 10:00PM. “If you struggle to get a table, bear with us. I can guarantee every forkful will be worth the wait” says the entrepreneur bringing the phenomenon to Dublin.
