DublinTown recently went on a tour around each of the Mercantile Group venues and we were not disappointed by the spots we were taken to. Let’s take you through our journey and maybe this is something you and your mates might do on your next outing in #DublinTown
First Stop Opium, Wexford Street
Immerse yourself in colour at Opium’s Club or indulge in spectacular cocktails in their Lounge or escape to the tranquil and stunning Botanical Garden. Next door, Whelan’s, Wexford Street
If it’s live music you want, then it’s Whelan’s you need to visit! Famed for its atmosphere, quality and live music this traditional country pub in the heart of the city is a venue that has played host to musical legends such as Jeff Buckley, Nick Cave, Christy Moore and Peter Buck and Mike Mills from REM and more contemporary sounds like Arctic Monkeys and Ed Sheeran.
Down the road to Nolita, South Great George’s Street
NoLita brings with it a new experience to Dublin combining excellent Italian Fare with a celebrated beverage programme, set in a decadent yet energetic environment. With extensive menu options, hand-crafted cocktails and worldclass entertainment, NoLita is set to take you from lunch through to the late night without missing a beat.
Further down to The George, South Great George’s Street
The George is Ireland’s best known LGBT+ bar and venue. It has been the lynchpin that holds Dublin’s gay scene together. Having been around for 25 years it has been a home to the development of the social evolution of gay Ireland and hosts the best nights out.
Crossing over just a few streets down to Cafe En Seine Dawson Street
Nestled in the heart of Dublin’s city centre on Dawson Street, Cafe en Seine was established in 1993 and quickly became a go-to destination for locals and visitors to the city. Today, its legacy continues with a beautiful, newly designed space which features several dining experiences, along with a host of bars, bespoke event areas and a stunning indoor Parisian street garden.
Back down to Pichet, Trinity Street
Pichet is a modern take on a classic bistro which holds a ‘Bid Gourmand’ from the Michelin Guide. Split into three unique areas, the front room is a airy and spacious, the main dining room offers guests a front row seat to the theatrical displays provided by Pichet’s team of chefs and the quaint conservatory presenting guests with an intimate dining experience. Before finishing in the Mercantile Bar and hotel on Dame Street
The Mercantile is fast becoming one of Dublin’s favourite after-work and late night bars. With an excellent reputation for live music, the Mercantile has featured top DJ’s, plus international and up and coming Irish acts along with some traditional Irish music nights.
