This Culture Night, the Abbey Theatre celebrates 60 years in its current building on the iconic site where Ireland’s National Theatre has stood since 1904.
Hosted by Abbey Theatre Archivist Mairéad Delaney, this special archive presentation traces the theatre’s remarkable history from its founding by W.B. Yeats and Lady Gregory to the present day. Through stories and archival images, visitors will discover key moments in the Abbey’s history, culminating in the theatre’s 2026 centenary production of Seán O’Casey’s The Plough and the Stars.
Two 45-minute presentations will take place in the Peacock Bar on Abbey Street at 16:00 and 17:00. Capacity is limited to 40 people per session, and advance booking is required.
