Hailing from Dundalk, Co. Louth, Seán McKenna is a ballad singer and founding member of The Mary Wallopers, touring with them for 9 years until his departure earlier this year. Now perfroming solo, Seán blends thundering guitar melodies and politically charged lyrics to present a gritty mix of tradional folk and modern protest songs.
Fools Sorrow play original feminist & political folk songs, inspired by Irish, American and Scottish folk music. Songs about bodily autonomy, grief, patriarchy, housing struggle and Palestine. Sometimes mournful, sometimes uplifting – songs for fools and those who don’t yet recognise themselves as such.
