Sadhbh Devlin is an award-winning Irish-language children’s author whose work is celebrated for its warmth, playfulness, and lyrical Irish, encouraging young readers to explore the world through imagination. Her latest title, Oíche Mhaith, a Ghrá (My Irish Books) is a sound book created in collaboration with harpist Emer Ní Scolaí and illustrator Brian Fitzgerald. The story blends narration with a bespoke harp score to create a fun yet calming, musical bedtime experience.
Sadhbh will be joined by Emer on harp as well as Brian, offering audiences a richer reading of the story, alongside an insight into the making of sound books more generally. Families can take part by reading together and using the book’s interactive sound buttons. Children and parents who wish can also record themselves reading a page, accompanied by Emer on harp. A celebration of storytelling, music, illustration agus an Ghaeilge – for all ages and no Irish fluency required!
Join us for this free drop-in event. Please note that space is limited and admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Thaitin scéalta de gach saghas i gcónaí le Sadhbh Devlin. Agus í ag fás aníos, ní raibh mórán leabhair Ghaeilge a thaitin léi ar fáil ag an am. Bheartaigh sí, mar sin, go scríobhfadh sí leabhair as Gaeilge nuair a bheadh sí ina duine fásta. Anois, scríobhann Sadhbh pictiúrleabhair sa dá theanga agus tá roinnt gradam buaite aici fiú! ’Sé Gruaig Áine a céad aistriúchán. Tá cónaí uirthi i gCill Mhantáin lena clann agus le puisín dána darb ainm Pico.
When she was growing up, Sadhbh Devlin loved stories and read widely in Irish and in English. But there wasn’t the same choice of books available in Irish. She decided when she was grown up she would write her own stories as Gaeilge! Now, Sadhbh writes picture books in both languages and she’s even won a few awards! Gruaig Áine is her first translation. Sadhbh lives in Wicklow with her family and a bold cat called Pico.
