Learn to build your very own miniature freshwater habitat for wildlife, wherever you live and work.

    Who is this course for?

If you’re curious about biodiversity and want to learn practical ways to support nature, this course is for you. Whether you’ve got an apartment balcony, concrete driveway or full sized garden, you’ll find out how to add beneficial microhabitats to your home, and leave with the confidence and knowledge to get started.

    What will you learn?

Using repurposed materials and native aquatic plants, you will gain practical, hands on experience in creating a viable miniature freshwater habitat. We’ll look at miniponds set into the ground, as well as above ground and even portable versions you can take with you if you move house. We’ll cover the do’s and don’t as well as a variety of ways to boost the effectiveness of your mini pond once it’s set up.

    What will you take away?

You will receive a starter kit to get cracking on your own pond at home, and join our ever growing network of much needed water sources to support wildlife throughout the community.

How to get here and how to prepare?

The workshops will take place in The Fumbally Stables, in Dublin’s Liberties, a short walk from Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. The venue is directly served by the 49 and 54a at Stop 2636, Long Lane, Leonard’s Corner and Stop 2387, Long Lane, Leonard’s Corner. Plan your journey on the TFI website.

There are indoor and on street parking options nearby, check Parkopedia for more details.

This workshop will partly be outdoors, with limited access (via wooden steps) to an internal courtyard garden. It’ll be summer in Dublin so please dress for the likely combination of sun/rain/wind combination that we may get.
