You’ve Heard of Halloween… But Have You Tried Hurloween?
Goals, games and GAA magic await at Croke Park this midterm, family fun on the Hurloween and Teidí Tours on offer from the GAA Museum!
This Halloween, the GAA Museum at Croke Park is inviting families to swap ghosts for goals and potions for sliotars with two much-loved midterm experiences — the Hurloween Tours and Teidí Tours.
Across the midterm break, Croke Park will become a playground of stories, skills and smiles, celebrating Samhain the GAA way. Whether your little one dreams of wielding a hurley like Setanta or making their own GAA teidí teammate, there’s something to keep every age entertained — no tricks, just fantastic family fun.
Hurloween Tours are where Setanta Meets Samhain. For young hurling heroes aged five to twelve, the Hurloween Tours bring Ireland’s ancient sporting legends to life inside Ireland’s most famous stadium. Guided by lively storytellers, families will follow the trail from the mythic days of Setanta to the modern hurling greats of Croke Park, discovering how a camán and sliotar once turned a young boy into the mighty Cú Chulainn.
Children can imagine what it would be like to step in Setanta’s boots in the ‘Warriors and Hurlers Workshop’ before taking home a beautifully illustrated book of Irish legends — an inspiring Halloween treat! The 90-minute adventure goes behind the scenes to the players’ dressing rooms, the pitchside tunnel and the museum, where young visitors can test their own skills in the Interactive Games Zone or burn off energy in Cú Chulainn’s Den.
Hurloween Tours take place at 11.30am and 2.30pm on Tuesday 28th, Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th October, with an additional tour at 11.30am on Saturday 1st November. Costumes are encouraged (but not required) and cameras are welcome — because who wouldn’t want a photo of a mini-hurler taking on Halloween at Croke Park?
For younger fans, Teidí Tours offer the perfect blend of creativity and discovery. These family-friendly workshops invite children aged three and over to make their very own GAA teidí before heading out on a mini stadium tour of Croke Park.
Inside Cú Chulainn’s Den, little ones will choose their teidí skin, stuff it full of fluff, add a heart, a name and a “bear-th cert”, before dressing their new friend in a special GAA Museum training kit. Then it’s time for teidí’s first team outing — a guided walk through the dressing rooms and pitchside area, where families can capture their bear’s debut at Croke Park.
Each Teidí Tour also includes entry to the GAA Museum, where children can follow Cú Chulainn’s Quest through the exhibits, finding clues and surprises along the way. Tours run at 12.30pm from Tuesday 28th to Friday 31st October, lasting approximately two hours. Tickets are priced at €30 per child (including a 16-inch teidí and GAA kit), €10 per adult and €8 for seniors. As this experience is not suitable for children under three, all children must be accompanied by an adult.
Whether your family prefers spells or sliotars, teddy hugs or team huddles, Croke Park is the place to play this Halloween. Both experiences are spook-free and spirit-filled, celebrating Irish heritage, sport and storytelling in true GAA style.
The GAA Museum is fully accessible, with baby-changing facilities, free parking beside the Cusack Stand, and the Blackthorn Café for hot lunches, pastries and coffee.
