Taking place every Thursday, this lunchtime lecture series brings together experts in Viking history and archaeology to explore the settlements, people and discoveries that have helped shape our understanding of Ireland’s Viking Age.

From Waterford and Limerick to Cloghermore and Linn Duachaill, each lecture offers a different perspective on the Viking presence across Ireland.

8th October: ‘ A tale of two settlements – Viking Age Waterford’ – Eamonn McEneaney

15th October: From Fjord to the Kingdom: In search of the Cloghermore Vikings – Claudia Kohler

22nd October: The sword in the Shannon: Viking Limerick and its North Munster hinterland – Cathy Swift

29th October: “The Forgotten Pool: The Vikings of Linn Duachaill” – Mark Clinton

Magical Mystical fun at Dublinia!

Join us this Halloween at Dublinia for a family-friendly event full of history, magic and creativity. Across four enchanted days, children and adults can take part in Spell Jar Making and Wand Making Workshops inspired by medieval traditions.

Each workshop is included with your admission ticket and offers a hands-on way to explore the mystical side of Dublin’s past.

Spell Jar Making Workshop – 27th and 28th of October

Discover the medieval practice of using charms and symbols to bring good fortune. In this interactive workshop, you will:

  • Craft your own magical spell jar using crystals, herbs and natural elements
  • Learn about the meanings behind ingredients such as amethyst, rose quartz and rosemary.
  • Take your finished jar home as a keepsake of your Dublinia Halloween experience.

Perfect for children aged 7 and above, accompanied by an adult.

Wand Making Workshop – 29th and 30th of October

Unleash your imagination and design a personalised medieval-style wand. During this session, you will:

  • Choose materials inspired by Viking and medieval crafts.
  • Discover stories about how people in the past believed in charms and rituals.
  • Leave with your own handmade wand to celebrate the season of magic.

Workshops are family-friendly and materials are provided.

  • Age guidance: Suitable for children 7+ with an accompanying adult
