Chinese Square Dancing at Wolfe Tone Square
Chinese Square Dancing or Guangchang Wu has now become an annual staple within the Dublin Chinese New Year Festival!
A very natural type of dance, with many different formats and styles, Chinese Square Dancing is making its home in Dublin, similar to other overseas locations such as Brooklyn’s Sunset Park, Moscow’s Red Square or Paris’s Louvre Museum.
Come bring the family into town and celebrate with a bit of dancing! There are no fixed steps, their facilitator will create all the moves, with integrated elements from yang-ko and Chinese ethnic dance, along with ballroom dancing steps. This is a simply fun and relaxed way to exercise and promote wellbeing. Taking place on Saturday, February 1st from 2pm-4pm, visit Wolfe Tone Square in Dublin 1 for a joyous afternoon.
Chinese Square Dancing is suitable for all ages, it's easy to learn, requires no foundation, and most importantly...no partner is required!
Just remember square dancing is not just for grannies! If Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean), can do it so can you!
