Brendan Hickey is a man who’s most likely to be known as the driving force behind “On The Verge” Productions.
This very popular website www.ontheverge.ie is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Brendan also ran an “On The Verge Live” a radio show with performances over a period of 30 years.
A true pioneer and supporter of grassroots musicians, it was Brendan who first came across the raw talents of now-established artists like Mic Christopher, Mark Dignam, Seán Millar, Paddy Casey, Mundy, Damien Dempsey, Gemma Hayes and Declan O’Rourke (to name but a few) and was the first to interview them on air
Brendan is also artist in his own right. A performance poet and spoken-word explorer, since the early 2000’s he has released three well received albums. He has also performed live countrywide with the solid support of his excellent band “The Launch Crew”.
This celebratory 25th ‘Anni-Verge-Ary’ event, promoted by Julie Moyle, takes place at Little Whelan’s on 5th August and will feature music by many of the acts who have played for oTv over the years.
A relaxed, lively and collaborative show with some of the most talented musicians Ireland has to offer. A fun and memorable night.
