What’s On in Dublin Town This Weekend (June 1-4)

DublinTown features on Dublin City FM every Friday morning to talk about some of the many things happening in the city. If you missed us, don’t worry, here’s a number of things you can do this weekend in the city.
This weekend you can enjoy all things music at YouBloom, take the family to BLOOM for horticultural and foodie fun or spot all the Tall Ships in Dublin, find the best spots in town to watch Ireland V USA and lunch after the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon! Here is a snuippet of what’s on in Dublin Town this Bank Holiday weekend.
YouBloom Summer & Music Festival, Friday 31st May – Sunday 3rd June
The Dame District will become a hub for all things music as part of the BLOOM Festival (below). There will be gigs on at J.T. Pims, Mercantile & Underground, which area all free entry; while more gigs will take place on the BLOOM Music Stage in the Phoenix Park. On Saturday, the Summit Programme will include panels, talks, masterclasses and keynote speakers at IMRO, Pemrboke Row.
Watch Ireland V USA friendly match at the pub, kick-off at 08.08pm – COYBIG!
There are plenty of pubs & restaurants to watch the World Cup friendly between Ireland and the USA, and we have 8 places to watch at 08.08pm including the Woolshed Baa, The Porterhouse, Dakota and The Lotts.
BLOOM Festival returns to Phoenix Park, Thursday 31st May – Monday 4th June
The annual horticulture festival is back to the Phoenix Park, that features 20 spectacular show gardens as part of the big competition, as well as endless garden and floral features, a garden & flower shop, arts & crafts and music stages. There will also be the food and drink tents for tasters and shopping, as well as talks, debates, workshops and live cookery demos with many Irish chefs.
Tall Ships Regatta arrive into Dublin, Friday 1st – Monday 4th June
Arriving into the Dublin Port and Grand Canal Dock, 17 ships will race from Liverpool to Dublin before heading down to the Bay of Biscay and finishing up in Bordeaux, France. The smaller ships will be in Grand Canal Dock while larger ships are at Sir John Rogerson’s Quay. Around Dublin vantage points include Bull Island, Sandymount and Clontarf. Usually Riverfest takes place but every few years Tall Ship returns to the Emerald Isle. Expect Maritime activities, sail training opportunities, permanent visitor attractions and water-based activities in the Dublin Docklands area.
Vhi Womens Mini Marathon is on Sunday 3rd June, 2pm
Dublin is going to be full of women, and some cheeky men, taking part in the 10km mini marathon around town. The race will begin at Fitzwilliam Place then head up towards Donnybrook and UCD, it will then loop around and pass RTÉ Studios, the RDS and finish at Pembroke Road. If you’re going to brave the weather, head to anywhere along the route to cheer on racers! For those taking part, and in general, we have 10 brilliant places to lunch in afterward to reenergise, including Eathos, Bewleys, Lemon Creperie, WigWam and Arnotts too.
