What’s On in Dublin This Weekend (June 15-17)
There’s plenty on this weekend to celebrate, from Bloomsday to the Taste of Dublin and the World Cup finally kicking off too!
DublinTown features on Dublin City FM every Friday morning to talk about some of the many things happening in the city. If you missed us on air, don’t worry as below are a number of things you can do this weekend in the city.
Taste of Dublin at the Iveagh Gardens – Friday, Saturday & Sunday 15-17th June
With two sessions each day this weekend (afternoon 12-4pm & evening 5.30-10.30pm), there will be plenty of food, drink and entertainment in the Iveagh Gardens. Following the Taste of Dublin Awards, SABA won the silver award for Best Dish, while the Roe & Co. tram won the Gold Award for Best Dressed Feature, which was designed by Catapult. The Asia Market‘s stall will offer tasty dumplings and ice cold beers and Mór Gin & Fever Tree will serve up some cool gin cocktails.
Celebrate Bloomsday with ‘Ulysses’ at the Abbey Theatre, Friday & Saturday 15-16th June (matinee tickets available)
A popular choice for those who enjoy celebrating Bloomsday and all things James Joyce. At the Abbey Theatre, the play will take place Monday-Saturday evenings at 7.30pm while their Matinee show is at 2pm – tickets are still available for the latter showing. A unique play, the interesting stage production will also feature 100 audience seats on the stage. This play will also run until late July 2018.
The Snapper comes to the Gate Theatre, Friday & Saturday 15-16th June
Written by famous author Roddy Doyle, he has developed his Irish creation for stage as it debuted in the Gate Theatre this week. Its first weekend run, tickets are available from €27, and will take place Monday-Saturday evenings at 7.30pm while their Matinee show is at 2.30pm. This play will also run until mid September 2018.
Riverdance returns to the Gaiety Theatre, Friday-Sunday 15-17th June
Back again for their traditional summer show, Riverdance will make a big impact for its opening weekend this year, to new audiences as well as lovers of Irish dancing for its umpteenth show at the famous Gaiety Theatre opposite Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre. A wonderful tourist attraction, the original Riverdance has returned home for all to enjoy. Tickets are available from €21 with daily shows at 7.30pm. This show will run until early September.
Smyths host Jurassic World Day, Saturday 16th June, 11am-3pm
Smyths Toys Superstores will put on a fun activties day for kids that promises a fun family day out. Expect free giveaways and demonstations, and plenty of roaring like a dinosaur!
Father’s Day celebrations in the Jervis Shopping Centre, Saturday 16th June, all day
There is plenty on for Father’s Day, which is Sunday 17th June this year, and at the Jervis Shopping Centre soccer star Kenny Cunningham will be in attendance for a meet & greet between 1.30-3.30pm where you can also enter to win a signed jersey. Grafton Barbers will also be offering complimentary blow dries for men, so it’s the perfect opportunity to treat yourself (or tell your Dad) before dinner on Saturday evening.
Where to watch the FIFA World Cup 2018
There are plenty of matches to watch since the FIFA World Cup 2018 has finally kicked off…!
