What’s On in Dublin This Weekend (February 8-10)
DublinTown features on Dublin City FM every Friday morning to talk about some of the many things happening in the city. If you missed us on air, don’t worry as below are a number of things you can do this weekend in the city.
Neil Delamere at Vicar Street – Friday 8th and Saturday 9th February, 8.30pm
One of Ireland’s best comedians returns to the comedic stage with his tour “Controlled Substance”. Famous as a panelist on shows Mock the Week and The Blame Game, and show Soft Border Patrol, the evening is sure to be a funny one! Tickets are still available for both shows from €28 via Ticketmaster. Each show starts at 8.30pm in Vicar Street.
Aesynth Festival at In-spire Galerie Dublin – Friday 8th-Sunday 10th February
This festival is a celebration of synaesthesia through music and art. Curated by Irish violinist Siobhán Doyle and London-based painter and synaesthetic artist Jane Mackay, the three-day festival takes place in In-Spire Galerie Dublin on 53 Lower Gardiner Street. Tickets are available via Eventbrite. The weekend itinerary is as below:
– Friday 7-9.30pm, Evening Concert and Q&A, €25
– Saturday 10-11.30am and 11.30am-1pm, Film Screenings and talk with film maker Tay Aziz, FREE
– Saturday 2.30pm, Panel Discussion, FREE

– Sunday 11am-1pm and 3-5pm, Meet the Artist open day with Jane Mackay
Friendship Day for Saturday Storytime at Books Upstairs – Saturday 9th February, 11am
The theme for Books Upstairs’ second-ever children’s Saturday Storytime is ‘Friendship Day’. In Finland, the 14th of February isn’t all about romance and heart-shaped cards. Instead it’s known as Friendship Day, a celebration of all the people who make our lives special. The Books Upstairs team will be reading stories about friendship and making some fun alternative Valentine’s cards for friends, grandparents, siblings, parents, teachers, bus drivers, child-minders, dogs, cats, hamsters – whoever it is that makes you smile! This FREE event will take place at 11am, and all ages are welcome.
Danny G & the Major 7ths and Osmojam at Studio 10 – Saturday 9th February, 6pm
Irish soul musician and vocalists Danny G & the Major 7ths are playing an intimate gig in Studio 10 from 6-9pm. To celebrate the release of new singles ‘Say When’ and ‘Believing’, Irish artist Danny G & the Major 7ths are a group of wonderful vocalists, beloved by the Irish radio and music scene. Support act Osmojam comes all the way from France, whose French Soul and Afropean music is not to be missed. She is also flying over from France especially for this gig!
6 Nations 2019 Week 2 – Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th February
This year’s Six Nations Championships continues this weekend with the following three matches:
– Saturday 2.15pm, Scotland v Ireland
– Saturday 4.45pm, Italy v Wales
– Sunday 3pm, England v France
