What’s On in Dublin This Weekend (February 22-24)
DublinTown features on Dublin City FM every Friday morning to talk about some of the many things happening in the city. If you missed us on air, don’t worry as below are a number of things you can do this weekend in the city.
Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival – Friday-Sunday 22nd-24th February
It’s an excellent weekend for films! DIFF returns for its 17th year with over 125 events and films including international features, short films & documentaries, as well as dedicated children’s and young people’s programmes. Cineworld are showing an array of films as part of the festival including:
– Friday: The Third Wife at 6.15pm // Hotel Mumbai at 8.30pm
– Saturday: Dub Daze at 2pm // Maria by Callas at 6pm // Ballon 8.30pm
– Sunday: Yuli at 6pm // Everybody Knows at 6.10pm // The Hummingbird Project at 8.40pm
Films are also being shown at the IFI, Light House Cinema and Odeon Point Village.
PYG presents Cromby & Colin Perkins at Pygmalion – Friday 22nd February, 7pm
Kickstart your weekend with a double DJ whammy at PYG! Belfast native and Berlin-based DJ Cromby is coming to Dublin for a night of epic house music joined by Dubliner DJ Colin Perkins. Irishman Daire is also supporting, with doors from 7pm and entry fee is only €5. Expect remixes and music into the all hours while you dance night away! 2 for 1 Pygtails are also on offer as well as a range of tasty food.
CEAD Open Day at NCAD – Saturday 23rd February, 11am-2pm
For any budding artists out there, NCAD invites you to their Open Day for CEAD Certificate courses and CEAD Part-Time Diploma in Art & Design. Taking place on Saturday from 11am-2pm, this is a great first step for those looking to further educate themselves in the art & design sector.
This informative event is for all current and prospective art and design students who want to progress through part-time accredited study to certificate and diploma level. Tutors and students from the courses will be available to chat and answer questions about the teaching and learning experience at CEAD. Open Day is FREE but registration is required.
Oscars Live Screening at TRAMLINE – Sunday 24th February, 10pm
If you are a student of TUD, the DIT Film Society are hosting an Oscars live screening at TRAMLINE this Sunday. To celebrate the biggest film ceremonies, watch the Academy Awards in the heart of Dublin in your glad rags! The dress code is formal, a perfect opportunity to wear your red carpet gown or three piece tuxedo! Entrance is €20 for TUD (formerly DIT) students only, with no admission after midnight – please note the entrance is via Hawking Street.
6 Nations 2019 Week 3 – Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th February
This year’s Six Nations Championships continues this weekend with the following three matches:
– Saturday 2.15pm, France v Scotland
– Saturday 4.45pm, Wales v England
– Sunday 3pm, Italy v Ireland
If you’re looking for where to watch the rugby why not visit T.P. Smiths on Jervis St, The Bankers on Trinity St, The Hairy Lemon on Stephen St Lower, and the usuals of Café En Seine, Lemon & Duke in Royal Hibernian Way, Fade Street Social on Fade Street & Woolshed Baa on Parnell Street. All of these serve excellent Guinness, beers & wine, as well as delicious food.
