What’s On in Dublin This Weekend (August 3-6)
Dublin is in for a hot weekend, with plenty to do in town from music to delicious wine, LGBTQ+ films and tasty food too. Read up on what’s on in Dublin Town!
DublinTown features on Dublin City FM every Friday morning to talk about some of the many things happening in the city. If you missed us on air, don’t worry as below are a number of things you can do this weekend in the city.
Whelan’s Trad & Folk Festival – Friday-Sunday 3-5 August
There will be different acts on each floor within Whelan’s, Wexford Street. Acts include Lisa Loughrey, Call the Dancers, Whistle, The Eskies and the Traditional Arts Collective who will play in the Front Bar. This is a great way for tourists to experience true Irish music, and for locals to celebrate our culture. Entry is free, however this is an Over 18s festival, and shows kick off from 7pm each evening.
Experience the Delicious Dublin Food Tour – Sunday 5th August
This foodie tour is a great exploration of Irish food that showcases Dublin’s food scene. Your tour group will stop at award-winning restaurants, cafés and food shops around town, during the 3.5 hours tour. You will walk about 3km, whilst enjoying 6-8 tastings, and be given talks by professional and passionate food experts. Meetup is at The Spire on Sunday at 11am, and the tour will end approximately at 2.15pm. It is advised to wear comfy shoes and bring water, and for dietary requirements, please email before booking. Tickets cost €60 per person and are available via Eventbrite.
Say ooh la la at Riviera at House Dublin – Sunday 5th August
House Dublin on Leeson Street will host a showcase of some of the finest prosecco, champagne, wine & cava brands from the stunning Riviera regions of France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. Entry is free, however package deals are advised. The Bubble Package (€20, 3 glasses of prosecco) and Riviera Package (€35, 1 glass of fine wine, 1 glass of bubbling prosecco and 1 glass of the finest champagne) are available via Eventbrite, and we do recommend you also sample House’s delicious bites to accompany. Ticket holders receive complimentary Aperol Spritz too. Riviera at House Dublin will take place from 12-8pm this Sunday.
Farrier & Draper Host an epic Bowie & Prince Brunch – Monday 6th August
The Bank Holiday Monday calls for tasty celebrations, and luckily Farrier & Draper on South William Street are hosting a Bowie & Prince Brunch! Reservation ahead of Monday is advised, as each Brunch offering includes two cocktails plus one main brunch dish (€20 pp). A live DJ will be spinning tracks by the iconic artists, so you can enjoy your Space Oddity and Purple Rain with a side of delicious.
The GAZE International LGBTQ+ Film Festival – Friday-Monday 3-6th August
Celebrating LGBTQ+ storytelling, this long weekend why not take a few hours to wtach one of the many wonderful films taking place at The Light House Cinema in Smithfield, as part of the GAZE International LGTBQ+ Film Festival. Films from around the world include Outitude (Ireland), Cherry Grove Stories (USA), Mario (Switzerland), Disobedience (Chile), and Black Divaz (Australia). Tickets cost between €10-12 and are available via Light House Cinema website.
Beatyard 2018 – Friday-Sunday 3-5th August
Back for another year, the Brewtonic Presents Beatyard Festival 2018 will celebrate and showcase everything from music, art and design, to tech, drinks, and of course food. There are 8 areas including Eatyard (food), Banteryard (arts and discussion) and Kidsyard (fun for the little ones); while acts include The Jacksons, Jenny Greene, The Scratch, DJ Tara Stewart, and PJ Gallagher. Camerino Bakery of Capel Street will be present at Eatyard all weekend, while Wigwam on Middle Abbey Street will host the official after party every night from 11pm. Tickets are still available via Beatyard; adult tickets from €59, while kids’ tickets cost €5 (under 15s). Beatyard will be open 4-10.30pm every day this weekend.
