Part of the city furniture
Tom White, AJ Furniture
It’s an honour for me because when people come in here we’re creating something for them. You can walk in here and every item on the floor can be tailored to fit, and we actually customise furniture for people with back problems and things like that. We work on word of mouth really, if I deal with somebody I can guarantee I’ll get five more customers back off them. One my favourite haunts is Dublin Castle. I just love the whole ambience of it. It’s nice going through there on a clear morning and having a coffee. I think a lot of the city is under appreciated. The problem is, it’s on our doorstep and we all take it for granted. Like if you go in to St. Michan’s Church there on Church Street, it’s just beautiful. The absolute best bar in Dublin, for music and the whole lot, is Bruxelles. The thing with Bruxelles is, it is the best bar so it’s always crowded. But it’s the kind of place you could go in for an hour and end up staying there four. I’m here twenty-seven years but John has been here for forty, and he was here when the bank strikes were going on and there was no customers at all outside. We love being here, and we will always be here.
