Capel Upholstery Ltd has been in the Capel St area for three decades. They moved to their current premises in 58 Capel St seven years ago. Owner Ryan Hannon said traditionally Capel St would have been aimed at “home furnishing, furniture, curtains – an interior type of street.” That’s why he chose to remain in the area after deciding to relocate.
The services offered by Capel Upholstery Ltd includes a full re-upholstery service, foam cutting service while you wait and bean bags made in house. They stock a large range of upholstery fabrics including leatherette in all different colours for anyone looking to up-cycle their furniture. They also custom make window seat covers, a new craze for many households with bay windows.
There seems to be a revival in people up-cycling and refreshing old furniture pieces with Ryan saying “Some people are buying the fabric and doing it up themselves. They are also getting things from the charity shops and doing them up too.”
When asked about his neighbourhood, he said, “There is a great connection between all the businesses. Everyone is really supportive of each other. If someone comes in looking for something we don’t have, we point them in the right direction to where they can get it. So we create business for each other.”
