My ideal day in Dublin Town would be a sunny day in the Creative Quarter. To those who don’t know, that’s the innovative area between George’s Street and South William Street. The eclectic mix of people, cafes, restaurants and boutique stores in the area really make the Creative Quarter stand out and is an electric place to work and to play.
I’d kick off my ideal day with a late, light breakfast in Busyfeet & Coco café and after indulging in some fresh treats, it’s onto my favourite workout; a day of shopping in some of my favourite boutiques in town!
The historic Powerscourt Townhouse is always a great place to start, with so many amazing stores under one roof. That would be followed by a must stop at the fabulously eccentric Om Diva on Drury street, stocking loads of Irish designer gear along with some vintage clothing to browse through.
Shopping bags in hand, it’s time for a quick coffee break, and where else than the fabulous Clement & Pekoe, specialists of fine teas and coffees? On a sunny day, sitting out on the terrace while sipping on an herbal tea, it’s the perfect way to recharge the batteries.
A quick jaunt into Project 51 and then it’s off to another historic building. A walk back through Castle Market and into George’s Street Arcade for a few bits and bobs. A stop in Bubblicity for a bubble tea is inevitable and quick stops in Beaux Bows and New Moon will cap off the day’s shopping.
Shopping finished, it’s lunchtime and there’s nowhere better than a booth in the lively Dakota Bar on South William Street for a bruschetta and a goat cheese tart, complimented by a glass or two of Sauvignon Blanc.
If the mood takes me, a short, one-stop trip on the Luas to the Harcourt Street stop leaves me just outside Odeon Nite Bar, where I’ll spoil myself on some cocktails; the Hot & Cold Cosmo being one of many choices. If I’m still feeling peckish, I might have something from the tapas menu, the rack of lamb and a chocolate and cherry sauce is one of my favourites! Then it’s onto more cocktails and I’m dancing late into the night! I probably won’t get to the gym tomorrow!
