The Oval Bar Launches a New Menu Celebrating Irish Produce and Authentic Pub Food
- Thu, 4 Sep 2025
The Oval Bar, one of Dublin’s most historic pubs, has launched a brand new menu that celebrates the best of Irish produce and tells the story of authentic Irish pub food. Rooted in tradition yet designed for today’s guest, the refreshed menu is hearty, straightforward and proudly local – a true reflection of The Oval’s heritage as a landmark Dublin pub since 1822.
The new menu shines a spotlight on Ireland’s food story, with dishes crafted from quality ingredients sourced from trusted Irish producers. Pub favourites include The Oval’s Famous Irish Lamb Stew with Guinness soda bread, Irish Seafood Chowder brimming with Atlantic catches and a rich Braised Irish Hereford Featherblade of Beef served with creamy mash and seasonal root vegetables.
There’s also Daly’s Smoked BBQ Salmon Rillette, a comforting Panko Supreme of Chicken Stuffed with Iona Farm Garlic and Gubbeen Chorizo and a Vegan Guinness & Vegetable Stew ensuring plant-based guests can enjoy the same depth of flavour. Lighter dishes such as the Iona Farm Beetroot & Panko-Crusted Goat’s Cheese Salad showcase fresh produce from Irish farms, while pub classics like the Prime Brisket Burger with Smoked Applewood is a crowd pleaser.

To complement the main dishes, a new bar snacks menu has been introduced – the perfect match for a pint. Highlights include McCarren’s Pork & Clonakilty Black Pudding Sausage Rolls, Tempura Atlantic Prawns and The Oval Toastie with honey-glazed Limerick ham, Dubliner cheddar and Ballymaloe relish.

Championing Irish suppliers and showcasing local flavours has been at the heart of the redesign. Every dish is designed to not only satisfy but also tell a story – from the farms that grow the vegetables to the butchers, bakers and cheesemakers whose produce brings the menu to life.

Beyond the food, The Oval is committed to preserving the charm and warmth of a classic Irish pub. For over two centuries, The Oval has been a place where neighbours meet, visitors find a welcome and stories are told over good food and a pint. Rebuilt after the 1916 Rising, its history runs through the building and today the aim is to offer that same sense of belonging – the feeling of a true local, where heritage and hospitality live side by side.
“The Oval has always been about tradition, welcome and a good plate of food,” said Bill Chawke. “With this menu we’ve kept things simple and true to who we are – classic Irish pub dishes, cooked well, using ingredients we’re proud to serve. It’s food that tells a story and that story belongs to Dublin.”
