Rock band Pillow Queens, with special guests, are set to host Fanning at Whelan’s, brought to you by Guinness Live & Rising in Whelan’s Pub, Dublin, celebrating the unique contribution of pubs across Ireland.
Guinness has announced that they are teaming up with Irish indie rock band Pillow Queens for their next Live & Rising event, bringing Fanning at Whelan’s from the TV screen back to the pub for one special night, spotlighting some of the incredible talent from Fanning at Whelan’s throughout the years and celebrating the best of Irish music from the four corners of the country.
Taking place on Wednesday 31st of January, the first Live & Rising event of 2024 will see Pillow Queens take to the stage in Whelan’s pub, Dublin with some very special guests, including Irish pop-rock musician, Blood Donor, and Dublin-born indie-pop artist Somebody’s Child for an evening of music, food and conversation, shining the spotlight on some of Ireland’s best emerging musical talent, and a few new ones to watch for 2024.
Irish creativity is thriving and Fanning at Whelan’s brought to you by Guinness Live & Rising invites people to discover the country’s incredible rising talent and experience something new in Dublin’s best-loved live music venue and iconic pub Whelan’s, which has been at the centre of Ireland’s thriving music scene for many years.
Pillow Queens said: “We are so excited to work with Guinness for Fanning at Whelan’s brought to you by Live & Rising. Being from Dublin, Whelan’s pub holds a special place in our heart, and we are thrilled to return to the iconic venue and share the stage with other incredible Irish artists like Blood Donor for this special evening and celebration of Irish pub culture and its natural kinship with music.”
Guinness Live & Rising launched last May in epic style with global superstar Dermot Kennedy, who performed on the roof of the Guinness Storehouse. The next day Dermot surprised fans with an impromptu singsong, in some of his favourite pubs including The Long Hall, Devitt’s and Toner’s, where he was joined by rising stars Aimee, Somebody’s Child and Niamh Bury.
Since then, Guinness has continued to collaborate with new and established artists, celebrating the pub, with events taking place in O’Connell’s Galway with Black & Irish, Jerry Flannery’s Bar, Limerick with sports broadcaster Valerie Wheeler, Common Market Belfast with Irish DJ Tara Kumar, J.M Reidy with acclaimed artist Maser, Reardens, Cork with singer-songwriter and producer Erica Cody, The Church, Dublin with The Coronas frontman and singer-songwriter Danny O’Reilly, Searson’s, Dublin, hosted by Irish pop band Wild Youth and the last Event of 2023 taking place in Dolan’s Limerick with rising star Jazzy.
