Dublin’s City centre’s rejuvenation and re-emergence as a prime venue for free, family entertainment will take another major step forward next month with a series of vibrant events.
‘Summer in Dublin’ will highlight the allure of Dublin City centre during July and August.
Dublin Town, the collective voice of business in the city centre, and Dublin City Council’s City Coordination Office, have joined forces to create free street events on numerous weekends throughout July and August.
Dedicated live fashion shows will run each Saturday from July 18 to August 22 (1.00-5.00pm), with activities happening with the co-operation and input of local businesses.
Summer in Dublin will include free family fundays, music and games, style and beauty events, and cooking demos.
Locations include O’Connell Street and Grafton Street, with additional free family events on Parliament Street.
The first event will take place outside Clery’s/Decathlon, O’Connell Street, on Saturday, July 18.
Following on from last year’s ‘Style in the City’ events which brought fashion runway inspired experience to Dublin City centre streets, the concept has been broadened.

The initiative has the backing of the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr Ray McAdam.
“Summer in Dublin is a wonderful celebration of our capital city, bringing music, culture, family friendly events and city life together in the heart of Dublin,” he said.
“As Lord Mayor, my theme has been ‘Celebrating Dublin’, and this initiative captures that spirit beautifully. It invites Dubliners and visitors to enjoy our city centre, support local businesses and experience the energy, diversity and welcome that make Dublin so special.”
According to Dublin Town CEO Richard Guiney, the vibrancy and colour of the City centre will be enhanced by a series of happenings for locals and visitors to enjoy, with Dublin’s rich cultural tapestry as a backdrop.
“Summer in Dublin will bring free, fun events, keeping people entertained as they shop, socialise and take in the culture our City centre has to offer.
“Pop-up happenings will move across the City, filling streets with music, fashion, cooking and games.”
Catherine Brophy Walsh of Dublin City Council’s City Coordination Office said Summer in Dublin will not only celebrate Dublin’s cultural diversity, but also provide a chance to get together as a community and support local talent.
“There is so much to do in Dublin City Centre for people of all ages. Summer in Dublin is organised especially to encourage people to experience all that is good about the City at this time of year.”
