Follow in Celebrity Footsteps with a Trinity Trail Guided Tour

Trinity Trails, the official guided walking tours of Trinity College Dublin led by student and alumni tour guides, feature spectacular heritage spots and iconic film and TV locations across the historic 47-acre Dublin city centre campus. The guided tour starts at the Campanile in Trinity’s Front Square, and then invites visitors to walk in the footsteps of stars such as Jenna Ortega, who filmed scenes for the soon to released season two of Netflix’s Wednesday in the Graduate Memorial Building – the second stop on Trinity Trails – along with the magnificent Museum Building which featured in Disney’s Disenchanted with Patrick Dempsey and Amy Adams; and concludes outside the Old Library (with the option to add on a visit to the Book of Kells Experience) where Russell Crowe’s thriller The Pope’s Exorcist was filmed last summer.

Normal People celebrates its fifth anniversary this year, written by Trinity alumni Sally Rooney, with the campus taking a centre role in the filming. Stroll through the cobblestones squares and leafy grounds where Marianne and Connell’s unforgettable love story unfolded – Paul Mescal, who earned global acclaim for his role, is also a Trinity alumni having spent his student years in The Lir Academy. Connell’s Normal People college bedroom was in Rubrics, another stop on the Trinity Trails tour. Amble through the ancient pathways where some of Ireland’s most renowned writers, actors, and changemakers walked, passing by buildings once frequented by figures such as Oscar Wilde, Samuel Beckett, and Mary Robinson.

Trinity Trails offers two official tours around the stunning Trinity College Dublin campus. The standard Trinity Trails tour, priced from €16, includes a 45-minute guided walk through the campus. For the full Trinity experience, book the Trinity Trails & Book of Kells Experience, which is available from €33.50, combining the 45-minute campus tour with access to the iconic Book of Kells and Old Library, including access to Gaia and the new immersive digital exhibition. Tours can be booked online at visittrinity.ie.

Every visit counts. Revenue from all visits is invested back into Trinity College Dublin to support the academic mission of the University and fund development projects and conservation programmes.
