The Capel Street Series #5 – Rua Dublin

Rua Dublin is a brand ‘newish’ addition to the vibrant Capel Street and is a quaint store full to bursting with lovely trinkets, homewares and accessories of various shapes and sizes. Run by a wonderfully inviting couple, Cara and James, the store has only been around since February of last year but is really making waves in the surrounding area and beyond thanks to its fresh approach of retro with a slice of contemporary thrown in; in their words, they are “home to all things cute and quirky and with prices starting from under a euro there really is something to suit every budget!”
Owners Cara and James, having worked for a varied bunch of retailers around Ireland and Britain and travelling for a while, pooled their skills and knowledge together and Rua was born. Indeed, they utilise those skills on a daily basis. Rua is a place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city streets and just relax. Cara and James have put together an environment that inspires and delights their customers, a place where time floats by. Their Chalk Paint™ workshops are designed to teach how to bring old furniture back to life.

According to Cara, there’s not much that Capel Street doesn’t have to offer. She loves the bizarre mix of old and new businesses and how the historic street is seeing an influx of exciting new businesses just like Rua. If you haven’t been to Capel Street in a while, Cara would recommend cafes Brother Hubbard and new spot, Mish Mash for delicious food and coffee, the likes Shauna’s pet shop for pet lovers, The Black Sheep for ‘insanely delicious’ food and one of the newest additions, The Beerhouse for craft beers.
Look out for Rua Dublin’s next step! They’ve got loads of plans for the store! Having only been opened for slightly over a year, they never expected to do so well and their growth means they will be expanding very soon! They’ll be adding another floor so there’ll be even more room for you to lose yourself in!
