Our Delicious trip to the Celtic Cookie Company
Do yourself a favour and take a step inside the Celtic Cookie Company on Middle Abbey Street – there’s nothing better than being welcomed by the smell of freshly baked cookies (and smiles from the friendly staff in this family run business!)
Even though they only opened their doors very recently, walking through the door feels like the Celtic Cookie Company has been a feature on Abbey Street for years.
There’s something truly homely and refreshing about this spot, with a warm welcome the moment you arrive. With the delicious selection of treats to choose from, we were given a full breakdown of all the different flavours of their freshly made cookies, and Irish made ice creams.
Lets start with the cookies, from their festive stamped biccys, to their huge range of flavours and combinations. It was so hard to choose between the huge variety of flavours, including Chocolate Orange, Malteaser, Macadamia & Blueberry… (we’ll take them all!)
With speciality cookies like this white chocolate Claddagh Cookie, which is just as delicious as it is pretty! They also do requests to make personalised cookies for weddings, corporate events or birthdays.
All cookies are made in the café every day, with as much Irish sourced ingredients as possible. We tried the the Classic Chocolate Chip, Mince Pie, and White Chocolate Chip, but we also couldn’t resist trying their cookies Ice Cream Sandwich and their Celtic Cup.
The cookies were literally melt in your mouth good! To be honest, we felt like cookie experts when we left, and we can assure you that the chocolate chip cookies were not too sweet – allowing the delicious chocolate flavours to come through (we take our cookie-tasting job very seriously as you can tell!). We could really taste the difference with the freshly made and unprocessed ingredients. The Mince Pie cookie was a wonder, with the mince pie flavours perfected in a delicious cookie base.
The ice cream in the Celtic Cup, and the Ice Cream Sandwich both had a really deep flavour and was incredibly creamy. The hand-made ice cream, while made in Ireland, takes inspiration from Italian styles of ice-cream making. The ice cream in Celtic Cookie Company has the lowest fat content possible which actually makes a creamier texture! (you learn something new everyday).
They also do fantastic coffee, hot chocolate, tea and non alcoholic spiced hot apple cider (our personal favourite) that will keep you warm as you gander around the city. Their selection of gift bags and treats would make a perfect gift for Christmas too!
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Celtic Cookie Company also do late night food – serving Wolfe Dog gourmet hot dogs which you can grab after your shindigs in town! Make sure to pop in, meet the lovely staff and leave a message on their writing wall! Try and spot our #DublinTown message while you’re there!
