Model Insight – A Week in the Life
Hello fashion followers, well I was delighted to be asked to do the very first “Model Insight… A Week in the Life” blog for Dublin Fashion! Here’s a little insight into my week as a model working in the fabulous world of fashion in Dublin.
I’m always on this site getting the insider tips and fashion updates so I was thrilled when they asked me to share some of the fun things I got up to last week in the wonderful working world of Fashion.
I had been away on a weekend of adventure in Co. Kerry so my hair was in a bad way from the sea and the sand. I had to run into Karen and the girls in The Hive on Georges Street first thing on Monday morning to get my hair back to normal before an Xpose Shoot on Monday which was my first gig of the week. I have very dry hair from over processing throughout the years but they have a treatment mask called Inoar Argan Oil that brings moisture back into my hair without weighing it down, without Karen’s wonder touch I would be lost in a world of frizz.
The Xposé shoot was in Dublin, Lisa Cannon was the presenter for the shoot and it was great to catch up with her and hear all the goss about her upcoming wedding in Italy this summer. She was absolutely glowing as she gave me and Stylist Holly White a little insight into her planned wedding look. The shoot was floral themed, a trend that seems to feature in all Spring / Summer collections. My favourite look was the white strapless dress, beautiful blue floral blouse and statement necklace combo.
After my job I rushed to catch my Bootcamp class in Raw Gym. I’d been over indulging on Easter eggs so much that Im starting to look like one, so from Monday I made a four week plan for clean eating, 3 gym sessions a week and no alcohol. I’m also trying to plan active weekends with the family in my free time. Focusing on healthy eating and getting outdoors is great for keeping me fit and my body catwalk ready.
I popped into a press launch on Wednesday evening at The Morgan Hotel to meet my friend and Make-Up Artist Joanne Larby. She was in filming a piece on her Top Five Summer Beauty Buys. Its always good to catch up with her as she has a brilliant channel on YouTube called MakeUpFairyPro so she has the low down on the hottest beauty products. As we’re approaching summer I’m becoming obsessed with body creams and oils to make my legs glow. She recommended her new fav leg sheen, ”Charlotte Tilbury Supermodel Body” so I popped in to BTs on Grafton Street on Thursday to pick some up.
I am currently on the hunt for a dress for the VIP Style Awards so I spent the rest of Thursday afternoon in the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre checking out what’s on the rails in some of their gorgeous boutiques, this didn’t last long mind you as the sun was shining and I needed a stroll.
To finish off my week I had a fashion show at The Spencer Hotel in Dublin for the first of Lisa Fitzpatrick’s fashion and beauty workshops called “Lisa’s Fashion Fix”. The event was full to capacity with some very stylish women from all over Ireland. Lisa gave a talk on her favourite trends for this season and on how you can dress to impress. She is a warm and beautiful woman inside and out and full of laughs which made the show even more enjoyable.
The Hair and Make-Up masterclass was taken by the team from Brown Sugar on South William Street and the very dapper salon owner Mark O’Keefe had all the ladies swooning. Marissa Carter gave a talk on Skin and Tan, I’m obsessed with her Cocoa Brown Tough Stuff Body Scrub btw! And Rosanna Davison gave a talk on nutrition and the benefits of a good diet for healthy skin, body and mind.
After all the healthy food talk the audience had lunch and we began our show. To finish off the day we had a visit from a surprise guest and X Factor Judge Louis Walsh who came along to support his friend Lisa on here first gig! Louis was his usual hilarious self as he posed for photos with the queue of guests who came up to chat to him and find out the goss on this years X Factor Judges…
Well, that was my week, I hope you had a good one too.
