BP Fallon, Ships and Aisling O’Riordan Join Hennessy Sound Lounge
Hen’s Teeth will be hosting a 7 Day celebration of music and arts with the Hennessy Sound Lounge for all the culturally cool cats this July.
Hennessy Ireland brings music and the arts together for this year’s Sound Lounge that will be created within Hen’s Teeth on Fade Street. Set to be transformed into a lounge inspired by listening rooms in Japan in the 1970s, it will feature a custom-built sound system specially designed by Toby Hatchett. Famous for his carpentry skills combined with a love of music, Hatchett’s portfolio includes custom sound systems for some of the country’s biggest music festivals, such as Body&Soul, Electric Picnic and Another Love Story.
Within the celebration, an eclectic mix of collectors whose musical tastes span the genres will tell their fascinating stories and insights into the music industry, where ticket holders can also enjoy their favourite tracks while sipping on smooth Hennessy Cognac.
Perfectly suited to the Creative Quarter, the seven collectors include the legendary DJ and photographer BP Fallon, who has worked with everyone from Led Zeppelin to the Rolling Stones as well as having been publicist to Thin Lizzy and T.Rex.
2018 Choice Music Prize-winning band Ships and singer-songwriter David Kitt are also on the bill. The former won the prestigious award only recently, and Simon Cullen from the band explains he feels “more present and connected to the music when listening through vinyl” and that putting a record on creates much more of an occasion than playing an mp3. David Kitt has been a producer and musician across the genres, and his vinyl collections spans thousands after his aunt gifted him her collection when she moved to Germany.
Experimental artist and filmmaker Vivienne Dick looks forward to sharing her thoughts on which records mean the most to her, as well as discussing her interest in North African music with attendees. Aisling O’Riordan is another talented female, who also hails from all-female band Morning Veils and is a music programmer for the Quarter Block Party, and will be one of the collectors at the Hennessy Sound Lounge in July.
In addition, Berlin-based designer Paul Diddy, and Cork DJs John Byrne and Colm K & will also add to the line up. From July 19-28th, Hen’s Teeth will become the musical hub for culture vultures, where your ticket also includes tasting masterclass with Hennessy Brand Ambassador Paul Tuohy. From this experience, those in attendance will get an in-depth knowledge about the world’s finest cognac and its historic pioneering use of ginger to bring out the natural spice of cognac. This tasting will feature Hennessy Very Special, V.S.O.P. and X.O.
Tickets for the Hennessy Sound Lounge only cost €8 (plus booking fee), times vary per session each day. Book your tickets via Eventbrite.
