Family Friendly Events for Culture Night
Culture Night has a come around again and kicks off this Friday, the 16th of September! Watch as Dublin comes alive with amazing cultural activities! Culture Night is for all ages and is full of great events for families to participate in, so we have picked a few highlights that your and your little ones will enjoy.
One of the venues full of great events for you’r youngsters is the historic grounds of Boston College, organised by the Irish Research Council. There will be face painting from 5pm, the Irish legends and Wonder Tales workshops at 5pm and 7pm for story telling, and Scribble Bot workshops at 6pm and 8pm to introduce your kids to science, technology and design.
Hodges and Figgis are teaming up with Children’s Books Ireland to put on a night to celebrate stories, and all things creative. Head down from 5pm for workshops with illustrators Chris Judge, and Sydney Smith who will be making art in the window! There will also be the Children’s Book Ireland on site Book Doctors who will prescribe the perfect books for the kids!
The Royal Irish Academy of Music will have some super fun workshops, instrument try-outs, and open classes so the young ones can try out their musical talents and see which one they fancy. There will also be loads of performances from the up and coming, the mature and established musicians. Head down between 5pm and 11pm.
An Post Children’s Quiz will be held in the GPO from 5:30pm, where there winner will be able to grab a One4all Gift Card. There will be also live shows of music, and your kids can send post cards to their friends here or abroad for free on the night!
ActionAid will be bringing the beautiful cultures of Asia and Africa to Dublin, with a night of art installations, videos, story telling, and delicious complimentary food and drink. The night is to celebrate the work ActionAid have done in Cambodia, Kenya, Malawi, Nepal and Vietnam. The night will be on from 6pm to 10pm.
The LAB has another amazing event on this year for the Culture Night’s younger visitors! The creative space, run by the Dublin City Council, will have loads of workshops, live music and performances, there will be tours of the space by Vanessa Donoso Lopez and Jane Locke. Head down between 5pm and 9pm to catch all the fun!
