From North London to the north side of Dublin, JD Reid is a razor sharp DJ and producer who’s made some of the most widely celebrated club edits out there right now, taking them to a whole new level… blending genres like hip-hop, jazz, dancehall and grime like it’s nothing.
His long-running EDITS series is now eight volumes deep, flipping carnival classics and grime instrumentals into DJ tools that have been championed by the likes of Bicep, Hudson Mohawke and Joy Orbison. On the production side, he’s the man behind Mabel’s “Finders Keepers,” and has written and produced for Mahalia, Celeste, Sinéad Harnett, Kelela and Kojey Radical, alongside collaborations with slowthai, Ghetts, D Double E and Novelist.
We remember Girl Unit’s recent set at CC dripping with JD Reid edits, and we’ve been waiting for the right night to bring him over ourselves. From running his own label and night, ‘Baby Gravy’ to playing everywhere from Fabric and Boiler Room to Drumsheds — we’re buzzed to have him on the Tengu soundsystem!
