New store Eirlooms opens with Irish in mind
When it comes to celebrating quality Irish products, one city centre store is making it their mission to showcase the talent this country has to offer with their new business – Eirlooms.
As a designer herself, Mary Whelan, knows how difficult it can be to get handmade products in stores and selling to the wider public. Mary opened her store, Eirlooms in July 2019 and now works with Irish designers across the country to sell their products and be a platform for their variety of work.
Eirlooms, which is a play on the words heirlooms and Eire (we love it!), is based on Stephens Street Lower and sells homeware products, jewellery, candles, Irish books of interest, unique greeting cards and much more.
“We source unusual things that you just can’t get anywhere else. The price ranges from €4 – €200 so there really is something for everyone. Our idea behind it is to give our customers a piece of Ireland that is Irish owned, Irish designed and truly unique.
“This is my passion and I feel really strongly about Irish designers and makers. They are all great people, with so much talent. If they are to be pushed out of the market, you are left with all this generic stuff! We have a great range and can’t wait for people come in and see our collections,” Mary added.
The next time you are looking to gift someone with something unique and Irish made, Eirlooms should be on your list of places to visit. Your friends and family will thank you for it!
