DublinTown Bars Shortlisted for Irish Craft Cocktail Awards 2018
A number of bars and bartenders are rejoicing as the Shortlist for the annual Irish Craft Cocktail Awards 2018 – including DublinTown businesses!
The awards, which will take place later this month 25th November in Number Twenty Two South Anne Street, celebrate the best in the Irish bar industry, specifically the cocktail sector with eleven categories, of which five will be Regional Winners.
For the ‘Best New Cocktail Bar’ category, 9 Below on Stephen’s Green and Ukiyo Lounge on Dame Court have both been nominated. The former only opened in November 2017 marking their first birthday quite the success, while Ukiyo Lounge was recently revamped welcoming guests for karaoke and cocktails.
Within the ‘Best Restaurant Cocktail Bar’ category, Press Up Entertainment Group Peruke & Periwig on Dawson Street and The Blind Pig on Suffolk Street are nominated, confirming that delicious food with cocktails is a true winner of nightlife.
DublinTown members 9 Below, Balfes at The Westbury and Peruke & Periwig are also successful in nominations in the ‘Outstanding Cocktail Menu’ category, with fellow Press Up business The Liquor Rooms also included. As for ‘Best Hotel Cocktail Bar’, a number of members are shortlisted including both Balfes and The Sidecar at The Westbury, as well as House Dublin of Nola Clan Group (who also run 37 Dawson Street).
When it comes to those behind the bar, ‘Best Bar Team’ award nominees include 37 Dawson Street, Peruke & Periwig and Vintage Cocktail Club.
And the coveted ‘Best Cocktail Bartender’ nominees are Andrew Ennis of Peruke & Periwig, Federico Destro of The Blind Pig, Gillian Boyle of Ukiyo, Karim Mehdi of The Exchequer, Oisin Kelly of The Sidecar at The Westbury Hotel, Richie Delahoyde of Vintage Cocktail Club, and Stephen Wynne of 9 Below.
Moving into the Regional Category – ‘Best Cocktail Bar Dublin’; 9 Below, Balfes at The Westbury, Peruke & Periwig and Vintage Cocktail Club are all shortlisted for the big prize.
