Clerys SS15 Collection Blossoms onto the Scene
For its first fashion show of the year, Clerys was transformed from a department store to a cherry blossom paradise.
The explosion of colour and the warm welcome upon entering the store was the perfect anecdote to the dull, dreary Irish spring day that guests had left outside. Spirits were immediately lifted with a colour rush to the senses and a feeling of starting afresh!
The theme of blossoms and spring time did not relent once as guests were transported from the ground floor to the rooftop, where the show took place, in a flower encased elevator. It was the stuff of fairy tales and wintery dreams.
Upon reaching the roof top that offered a beautiful view of the Dublin skyline, guests were treated to sweet canapés and fruit, washed down with sumptuous pink lemonade, and peach and passion fruit nectar. Once everyone’s thirst and hunger had been satiated the show commenced.
Clerys SS15 Fashion Show
First up the catwalk was Sarah Morrissey wearing a ‘Kaliko’ coat, floral jeans and a gingham shirt. Pastel colours beautifully complimented the floral prints and ‘Moda in Pelle’ shoes completed the look. All the shoes for the show were provided by ‘Brandshop,’ which is a fabulous new footwear store located in Clerys.
After the ‘Blossoms and Blooms’ came the ‘Luxe Layering,’ which showcased fine knits and textured fabrics. ‘Les Ciels 100’ a French label that is exclusive to Clerys, centres around classic yet contemporary cashmere pieces and features beautiful tunics, dresses, sweaters and trousers at affordable prices.
Safari is a big look this season and I personally am delighted as laid back, cool khakis and animal prints are the order of the day. The look was showed off to perfection by Thalia Heffernan who strut her stuff in a tan biker jacket and leopard print trousers from ‘Miss Selfridge.’ It was the epitome of cool, casual and cost effective.
The kimono is sticking around for another season. Printed kimonos and intricately, embroidered pieces from the ‘Global Traveller’ look, transported guests to a faraway land and had everyone yearning for warmer climes. This scene showcased another exclusive to Clerys ‘East.’ ‘East’ is an Eastern inspired label that delves into colour, texture and prints, which results in an eclectic and stylish collection.
Graphic prints are having a moment and the graphic print du jour for SS15 is black and white with unexpected splashes of colour. The scene in ‘Black and White’ closed the show and showcased a perfect transitional look that can be carried through to autumn/winter. Teo Sutra closed the show wearing a stunning halter neck dress from ‘Warehouse’ and shoes from ‘Moda in Pelle.’
The show was a resounding success and left guests breathing sighs of relief because not only is winter over, but the fashion buds of spring are truly blooming.
