City Spectacular returns to Dublin July 2019
Dublin city is being turned into a world of wonder with spectacular events at this year’s City Spectacular.
Returning to Merrion Square from Friday July 12th – Sunday July 14th, the Dublin version of Laya Healthcare’s City Spectacular is bringing family fun to new levels with breathtaking international street and circus performers, a vintage funfair and a bumper packed programme of events. And what’s even better is it’s FREE!
People of all ages are invited down to enjoy the amazing performances while tasting some delicious food at the Just Eat Street World food market. There’s also a feel good family health and wellbeing area, rockin’ live music with bop-worthy bands, a vintage funfair and a plethora of free spectacular programming.
Speaking with great excitement of this summer’s festival, Festival Director Shell Holden commented “Building upon the wonderfully rich and much-loved 14 year history of Laya
Healthcare’s City Spectacular, this year’s world-class festival line-up is bigger and bolder than ever with over 150 street performances from jaw-dropping international talent, over 35 global
flavours from the very best of Ireland’s street food scene and 40 hours of free belly-laughs, side-splitters and eye-openers for ages 0-100 to enjoy.
“This summer we are blending the old and the new, with festival favourites that everyone knows and loves, and a new mix of exciting programming to elevate Laya Healthcare’s City
Spectacular to a whole new level.”
Laya Healthcare’s Sponsorship Manager Selda Simsek commented “It’s been a great joy to sponsor an event that has grown in depth and delivery over the past seven years. At laya
healthcare we promise to Look After You Always and giving back to our members through free family events like this is another example of how we demonstrate that promise. City
Spectacular is a one-of-kind free festival filled with endless fun and entertainment for all ages to enjoy and has been the perfect platform for Laya Healthcare to connect and
demonstrate our Health and Wellbeing expertise. This year we’re looking forward to some fabulous new programming which is taking shape both in our Health and Wellbeing area and
across the festival, so we hope you’ll join us with your friends and family this July in Merrion Square and Fitzgerald Park for yet another spectacular show.”
Acts featured in this year’s bustling festival include aerial acts, football freestylers, sword-swallowers and tonnes of thrilling talent, a live music stage with infectious afrobeat rhythms and down-home blues and brass, an even bigger world street food market with global cuisines from barbecue to bratwurst to burritos, an imaginative play universe for kids and hands-on lego model building, children’s storytelling and creative writing, vintage funfair rides and much more.
Dance, drum, jump and join in at Laya healthcare’s It’s Good To Live family health and wellbeing hub. Social media superstar James Patrice hosts this action-packed area where you
can travel back to the 80’s and get into the groove with Retro Sweatro , enjoy high energy trampoline classes from Boogie Bounce, find your rhythm with Drum Nature and so much
more.
Little ones will transform into budding chefs and prepare culinary delights at Lil Laya Ville , the imaginative farm to table play experience. Colour outside the lines at the Super
Troopers Graffiti House and enjoy mind boggling puzzles and conundrums for kids of all ages.
Paws Everything! No Laya Healthcare’s City Spectacular is complete without the p-awsome festival area of Pet-acular with official festival charity partner DSCPA and Purina. Mutt and
man will enjoy doggy delights such as the DSPCA Scruffs dog show , dog training & agility demos with the DSPCA Dog Training Academy , pet health advice and some Pet-acular surprises
from Purina! Lovers of our four-legged furry friends will have the op-paw-tunity to meet dogs who are looking for forever homes in the DSPCA Doggy Adoption Parade . The DSPCA will be
joined by Cork animal welfare charity CSPCA and their cuddly canines at our Fitzgerald Park, Cork festival. You’ll be barking glad you joined in!
There’s even more to check out during this festival, which then moves on to Cork at Fitzgerald Park on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st July
