November 17th, 2017: Balfes, the chic centrally located all day dining bar and brasserie located at the heart of Dublin’s creative quarter provides the perfect respite from the cold for busy seasonal shoppers. Located in the heart of Dublin, Balfes all day menu and stylish setting offers everything people have come to love from the establishment. Enjoy the hugely popular Bodybyrne choices, stylish Loulerie Sparklers for after work drinks on the cosy, heated terrace as well as new winter additions to the menu such as an elegant pecan torte with salted caramel to finish as the evening ends.
New Winter Menu
Winter has been embraced by Balfes kitchen and the new winter menu reflects the best local produce and quality ingredients that define the season. The Balfes Josper Grill takes centre stage to present tender grilled saddle of lamb, served with chickpea mash and roast aubergine with red wine jus. Other new additions include a deliciously caustic chicory salad with flavoursome Crozier blue cheese, balanced perfectly with the sweetness of pickled pear, walnut and honey and grilled chicken breast with cumin ballotine, puy lentils and a rich parmesan polenta. Winter is all about comfort and a little bit of indulgence and the new dessert choices reflect this. Patrons can finish their meal with a choice of mixed berries served with champagne sabayon, a rustic pecan torte with salted caramel or for those in the mood for pure indulgence a gorgeous sticky toffee pudding served alongside delicious almond ice cream.
Daily Lunch Specials
Balfes celebrated daily lunch specials remain on the menu throughout the season with some new additions, all priced at €16.50 including a fresh fruit fool desert pot. Monday’s crispy pork belly is paired with creamy mash and spiced date sauce. Thursday’s healthy Josper grilled tuna steak is served with zesty kimichi salad and spiced wasabi mayo, whilst on Saturday and Sunday it’s all about the best of home comfort with shepherd’s pie, served with creamy parsley mash and roasted root vegetables.
The Season for Sharing
Celebrating the brasserie’s dedication to providing the perfect social setting, the Winter menu dishes also include Balfes signature sharing plates and include tasty cured Charcuterie sharing plates, a burrata with roast cherry vine tomatoes, cool semi sundried tomato crème and traditional country loaf as well as a fresh seafood platter boasting grilled gambas, cured organic salmon and local Castletownbere crab.
Terrace Toddies
Those looking to sit back and relax can watch the festive season unfold from Balfes’ heated terrace with a warming Hot Toddy, whilst wrapped in beautiful herringbone Irish wool blankets by Donegal Woollen Mills. The festive toddy menu includes a selection of hot whiskeys with a classic Balfes twist of apple and cinnamon infusions, warming hot ports with star anise to create an intoxicating liquorice aroma and the always popular smooth Baileys and Irish coffee choices, perfect for keeping the Winter chill at bay.
