Arnotts AW17
Arnotts Autumn/Winter Womenswear 2017 – The season’s look is soft and feminine while a sporty and masculine influence creates a modern and contemporary twist. For AW17 Arnotts sees an exciting addition of new womenswear brands from the international stage, including collections from Millie Mackintosh, Set, Samsoe & Samsoe and Max & Co, while Lauren by Ralph Lauren evening dresses bring a new dimension to occasion wear.
Valerie O’Neill, Arnotts Fashion Buying Director said, “This season at Arnotts we are celebrating ageless style. Fashion is about expressing your individual style and exuding confidence. We have an extensive collection of brands who present contemporary catwalk inspired looks to meet the demands of the modern Irish woman of every age and occasion.”
‘Sartorial Sport’ is a key trend for Autumn Winter 2017 at Arnotts, where tailoring takes on active for this streetwear style. Sport has inspired patterns for ready-to-wear clothing; including outerwear and separates that transition from work to weekend. This look is clean and relaxed, creating an effortless style. Details are also key for Sartorial Sport with zips, drawstrings, stripes and prints keeping the trend connected to its sporty roots. Millie Mackintosh, Ganni, and Luisa Cerano have used this inspiration to great effect in their collections.
‘Modern Heritage’ features an inspirational mix of masculine and feminine pieces, blended with cool uniform elements and Victorian style references. Here softness combines with masculine inspired tailoring, creating a new form of power dressing for the modern woman. Texture is essential, with re-worked fabrications to create a fresh, yet contemporary look. Opulent navy’s, muddy hues and dusty shades of grey and tan are key. Modern Heritage can be seen across brands such as Hugo by Hugo Boss, Caroline Kilkenny, Strenesse, and Caractere.
A lighter spin on the new season trends is ‘Soft Romance’. Romantic, girly and ladylike and highlights florals are not just for Spring. This season florals are revamped with a painterly touch, leaving a more three-dimensional impression. This trend is also playing with fabrications, from layers of sheer chiffon, to rich silks to weighted crepes, which are acting as the canvas for these feminine cuts. Soft Romance can be found across brands including Ganni, Max & Co, Set, Samsoe & Samsoe and Millie Mackintosh.
Infused with a spirited attitude, ‘Cocktail Hour’ is the key party wear trend, which takes on glamorous shapes and drenches them in satin, lace, sequins and velvet. Feathers, fringes and embellishments add unique textures and movement to these party pieces, driving this trend are brands such as Millie Mackintosh, Luisa Cerano, Max & Co, Vera Mont, Caroline Kilkenny, and Tara Jarmon.
Outerwear is a crucial wardrobe staple for Autumn Winter. A tailored winter coat is a must-have for every wardrobe and the AW17 runways were awash with variations from thigh-grazers to floor-sweepers. Key Brands include Hugo by Hugo Boss, Basler, Marella, Max & Co, Niamh O’Neill, Strenesse and Tara Jarmon. ‘Look-at-me’ furry coats once strictly belonged to the ranks of fashion extroverts are now a staple piece; from teddy bear to shearling this is the cosiest of all outerwear trends. Brands embracing the cuddly trend include Marella, Tara Jarmon, Millie Mackintosh, J. Lindeberg, Selected Femme and Basler. Thanks to a recent wave of designer fashion with off-duty cool, the puffa has gone chic. Winter whites, greys and navy’s are fundamental colours, with pops of reds, yellows, greens and pinks. Brands featuring stylish puffas include Marella, Caractere, Lauren by Ralph Lauren, Masai, and Armani Jeans.

Jewel toned colour palettes are a key call out for accessories this season. Rich bordeaux, olive greens and warm cognac tans create an autumnal palette to complement our womenswear ready-to-wear collections perfectly. These opulent colours are best seen applied to patent croc and suede finishes for AW17. Lauren by Ralph Lauren, Furla, Lancaster Paris and Coccinelle are key brands representing this trend.
In contrast, clean lines and softened leathers work back to muted tones for AW17. Delicate winter pastels are accented with metallic finishes to bring a light and romantic feel to our accessories hall. Ted Baker and Kate Spade New York illustrate this romantic trend in the form of ladylike shapes and delicate girly detailing which prove a beautiful contrast to our AW17 offer.
This season the tote sees a seasonal update in the form of winged side detailing; this nod to the catwalk is best represented by Lauren by Ralph Lauren and Michael Michael Kors. Smaller styles offer a day to night sensibility, perfect for the party season ahead; the convertible cross body is a perfect investment for AW17. Rebecca Minkoff and Lulu Guinness are key brands where multi way styles exceed our expectations – both stylish and wearable.
