Accessibility Issues and Solutions

Known limitations for www.dublintown.ie:

  • Blog posts: Some older images may lack text alternatives due to inconsistent practices in past contributions. We are actively reviewing and updating this content.
  • Embedded YouTube Videos: These are embedded using iframes, which may present the following accessibility issues:
    • Insufficient colour contrast in controls
    • Missing accessible names for certain elements
    • Content that disappears on hover
    • Hidden content being read by screen readers
    • Hover content that cannot be dismissed These issues stem from YouTube’s own embedded elements, which are beyond our direct control. We continue to monitor and seek alternative accessible video solutions where possible.
  • The calendar filter for events causes a keyboard trap. We are actively looking for an updated solution and will update this soon.

We’re dedicated to an inclusive experience and appreciate your patience as we resolve this and other accessibility challenges. Please contact us if you find any other barriers.
