The Guinness Choir, one of Dublin’s premier mixed choirs, will present their “Sing Again” Concert in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin at 7.30p.m. on Saturday 14 May 2022.
In naming the event our “Sing Again” concert, we took inspiration from the Taoiseach when, on 21 January, he was announcing the lifting of many restrictions imposed due to the Covid pandemic, he said: “We need to see each other again. We need to see each other smile. We need to sing again.”
A programme of popular choral pieces has been chosen from our extensive repertoire over 70 years. It includes beautiful works, such as Mozart’s ‘Ave Verum Corpus’, Bruckner’s ‘Locus Iste’, Rheinberger’s ‘Abendlied’, and Fauré’s ‘Cantique de Jean Racine’, along with works by Bach, Handel, Haydn, Gjeilo and Whitacre.
We are particularly looking forward to the first ever performance of ‘The Weaver’ by Judith Ring. This setting of a poem by Diane Tierney was specially commissioned by The Guinness Choir with the support of the Arts Council.
We are thrilled that our Special guests in this concert will be Catherine Redding, soprano, Niall O’Sullivan, trumpet and David Leigh, organ, each of whom will fill the magnificent acoustic of St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
The Guinness Choir is delighted to be the flagship event for the Culture Date with Dublin 8 Festival.
The Guinness Choir wishes to acknowledge the generous support for this concert by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports and Media, and Dublin City Council.
Tickets at €15 (restricted views) and €25 are available at Eventbrite.ie
