‘The Children’ plays at The Gate
The Gate Theatre presents the award winning play, The Children, as part of it's Spring Season of international new work.
Taking stage from February 28th, The Children is based around three retired nuclear scientists.
As the world grapples with the aftermath of a catastrophe at a nuclear power station, two retired nuclear engineers are enjoying a quiet life in their remote cottage by the sea. The arrival of an old friend, however, forces them to face the crumbling world outside and interrogate their responsibility towards future generations. Lucy Kirkwood’s provocative and darkly funny play, The Children, explores ageing, personal responsibility, and the effects of climate change.
The Director is Oonagh Murphy and it is the Winner of Best Play at the 2018 Writers’ Guild Awards (UK) and nominated for Best Play at the Tony Awards 2018, The Children is part of the Gate’s Spring Season of international new work, centered on the theme of Love and Courage. It is presented SIDE by SIDE with Beginning by David Eldridge.
