Notions Present DJ Deeon at Wigwam
Notions, the 'bright and beautiful clubbing experience in the heart of Dublin', are proud to announce their biggest and baddest booking yet- Chicago Ghetto house legend DJ Deeon!
After a string of sold out shows in the Button Factory, The Bernard Shaw, and impressively, Electric Picnic, Notions are seriously taking the lead on providing club goers with some amazing signings as of late. Their most impressive to date - DJ Deeon.
Playing in the electric venue that is Wigwam's basement, DJ Deeon will grace the stage on Thursday January 10th and play into the early hours of Friday morning.
Growing up in Chicago’s south side in the late 60’s and 70’s, Deeon experienced an era of profound change in America’s cultural and racial landscape which later became the subject-matter for his extensive musical portfolio. At a time when electronic music was new and starting to define itself, he was a pioneer in developing a sound that corresponded to the time and life of the people around him and the surrounding neighborhoods of Chicago’s downtrodden; those in dire need of profound change and liberation. His personal story and musical work is now indistinguishable from that rich tapestry that is America’s contemporary cultural history.
Over the coming years anthems such as "Shake What Your Mama Gave Ya", "Freak Like Me" and "House-O-Matic" found themselves in the record bags of the finest DJs worldwide, and the eventual cult status gained by these tunes led to a compilation of Deeon's greatest hits being re-released on Glasgow's Numbers in 2015.
