Blue Velvet is the newest live music and spoken word night in the DublinTown, created by the legendary makers of the Social Sessions. Nestled in the glorious Georgian fireplace lit room and engulfed in the history of one of the oldest and most glamorous buildings in the city at Farrier and Draper. You will find yourself taking off on a journey through music and spoken word by the lion's share of inspirational artists in the country. Each artist will perform for 30 min each, a perfect sampler of the entertainment for the night.
Dan Elliott is a 25 year old singer-songwriter from Cork, Ireland. Having performed on the Dublin music circuit as well as across Europe for the past three years, Dan has earned a reputation for his powerful voice, evocative lyrics and moving storytelling. Influenced by Bruce Springsteen, John Mayer, Ed Sheeran and David Gray, Elliott is among the finest singer-songwriters currently emerging from the Irish music scene.
Lisa Gorry is no stranger to the Irish music scene, where her combination of relatable lyrics and tender vocal tones have been honed to craft an intimate performance style. Performing last year before a spellbound audience in the packed to capacity Ruby Sessions, her lyrics echo the sentiments of a young Joni Mitchell with the vocal prowess of Dusty Springfield & emotive power of Janis Joplin. Having released her debut single in August, the formidable Gorry earns a deserved reputation as one to watch for 2020, as she returns in March with her second single, "down"
Stephen Maguire is an Actor, Playwright and Spoken word artist from Dublin. His debut Play “NOEL” won the “Outstanding Theatre” award at The Galway Fringe Festival 2018. Stephen is currently working on his debut poetry book which is due for release later this year.
