Things to Do in Dublin One on a Rainy Day
Don’t let a wet and grey day dampen your spirits – there are some great things to do in Dublin when it’s pouring out!
It might not come as a surprise to you, but Dublin sees rainy days more often than we like. Nothing will beat a good old sunny day in our fair city, but it’s important not to let a drop of rain ruin your day. If you find yourself in Dublin One, here are some things you can do when it’s raining.
Indulge in a Bit of Retail Therapy
Nothing beats a shopping spree! Dublin One offers the best shopping experience in the area and it’s literally a shopping haven teeming with chain retailers within walking distance from each other – so you wouldn’t have to walk in the rain for long. Plus, there are 2 shopping centres: Jervis and the Ilac, so you have loads of choices when it comes to shopping.
Treat Yourself to a Pamper Day
When it’s raining, a pamper day sounds like a good idea. Head to 4beauty Salon where they offer a wide range of treatments including body scrubs, masks and wraps and even some medical treatments. They also have a full nail salon, sun beds and hairdressing services. Neelu is another great salon that offers skin and body treatments in addition to traditional grooming treatments like threading, waxing and mani/pedi.
Grab a Coffee/Cuppa
Dublin One has a nice selection of cafes for you to sit back and watch the world go by. Stop by Ann’s Bakery for some coffee or tea with some of their delicious baked goods. Or perhaps you can try The Bagel Bar Coffee House, Butlers Chocolate Café or many more.
Head to the Cinema
When it’s raining, it’s the perfect time to head indoors to the cinema and watch the film you’ve been meaning to see for a while. In Dublin One, there are 2 spots to choose from: Savoy on O’Connell Street and Cineworld on Parnell Street.
Watch a Play
Why not catch a play in The Gate Theatre or Abbey Theatre. There are always shows and performances to suit everyone’s tastes so make sure to look at their show listings to see what catches your fancy.
Listen to Live Music
Bars and pubs across the district like McNeill’s Pub and Madigans always have some type of live music during the week, so all you must do is show up and enjoy the free entertainment. There are also music venues like The Grand Social and The Academy where you can enjoy music from local or international artists.
Visit a Museum
A rainy day in Dublin is the perfect time to do something more cultural! Head over to the National Leprechaun Museum where you can learn about Irish folklore and mythology. It’s a fun story telling experience taking you to the heart of Irish cultural identity and imagination, and it recreates experiences typically associated with leprechauns.
Or why not visit the GPO Witness History Visitor Museum where you can learn more about Irish history! This highly immersive and engaging exhibition puts you right inside the GPO during Easter Week in 1916. They also just recently launched a new exhibition commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Irish War of Independence.
