Looks Review – Dublin Fashion Festival Launch Show
We had the most spectacular night at the Dublin Fashion Festival launch, where some of our retailers gave an insight into what is to come in the upcoming weeklong festival through some fabulous outfits.
This year’s themes were debuted on the night, which include Victorian, Boho, Coat, Queens and Princesses and last but not least, Shine! We witnessed looks from retailers such as Arnotts, Brown Thomas, Ilac Shopping Centre, Jervis Shopping Centre, Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre and the H&M Studio Collection, just to name a few! The looks were styled by Jules Fallon, stylist and Creative Director of Dublin Fashion Festival.
Brown Thomas chose looks from three of the themes of this year’s festival.
First up, we have this chic Boho look by Chloé. Fringing is extremely on trend and this beautiful coat is a great example of what is going to be huge this Autumn/Winter. The clashing patterns in this wonderful dress worn underneath compliment the whole look and bring the Boho theme to life. The bag is the perfect accessory this look. Next up we had another look representing the Coat theme from Preen in Brown Thomas. Paired with a red Givenchy bag, this really makes the coloured stripes on the sleeves, zip and on the side of the legs pop. The collar on this coat is absolutely magnificent. The Shine theme was portrayed through this wonderful look by Sandro at Brown Thomas. It really glistened and glittered under the lights of City Hall giving this outfit a real wow factor.
Two stunning looks from two themes of this year’s show were provided by Dunnes Stores.
This gorgeous powder blue midi length coat is ideal for Autumn/Winter.They really managed to hit the nail on the head when it came to the Shine theme! This metallic skirt perfectly represents what the theme is all about.
JERVIS SHOPPING CENTRE
With looks from Bershka, Stradivarius, New Look and Forever 21, Jervis Shopping Centre definitely displayed a cool array of boho looks. With hats, fringing and ponchos being popular within the boho trend this upcoming season, these looks definitely did not disappoint on the night. The patchwork pattern was also a popular choice coming from the retailers in Jervis Shopping Centre which can be seen in the looks from New Look Bershka and Stradivarius.
First up from Arnotts, we had this fabulous womenswear look composed of Selected Femme topped off with a Dagmar coat and a Love Moschino bag, another look that fit in with the Coats theme to be featured in the upcoming festival. The contrasting yellow and black is certainly a statement.
Next up we had another coat themed outfit, this time for the men! This stunning coat was by Barbour, teamed with clothes from Farah and topped off with these gorgeous Hugo Boss boots.
The last look from Arnotts on the night was this Princesses and Queens themed look by Goat. The bright bow collar pops out over the coat giving a burst of colour against the white coat, simply stunning! Joined by these Kurt Geiger Carvela platform heels and this Lulu Guinness bag, this look will certainly turn heads.
STEPHEN’S GREEN SHOPPING CENTRE
We saw three different themes from the shops in Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre. Menswear was represented by Bertoni who chose to go with the Boho theme with this dapper suit, while United Colours of Benetton chose the Coat theme, choosing this teal outfit topped off with a grey coat. Circus chose the Princesses and Queens theme and showcased this silky polka dot look.
Penneys displayed some great looks at this year’s launch. They chose three themes; Boho, Princesses and Queens and also Victoriana. High necks and lace certainly capture the gothic Victoriana theme and the frills of the purple dress are a perfect fit for a Princess. The fur, fringe and suede in the first outfit definitely brought Boho to the catwalk.
These two wonderful outfits fit under the coats theme and come from the designer Kymaia at Design House, located in the Powerscourt Centre.
Another wonderful designer whose work is available in the Powerscourt Centre is Lya Solis. We saw two looks on the night, both being categorised into the Victoriana theme. With lots of lace and leather, the theme is perfectly portrayed through these looks.
Mary Grant displayed a Victoriana themed look and her designs are also available at the Powercourt Centre. Complimented by accessories from Claire’s, this extravagant look certainly didn’t go unnoticed.
ILAC SHOPPING CENTRE
The Ilac Centre presented five looks at this year’s launch. There were three looks from River Island, two beautiful Princess looks, one in the form of this gorgeous white dress and the other being this stunning pale pink suit. There was also a super glittery Shine themed look which came in the form of this stunning mini dress. Next up from the Ilac Centre we had this look from H&M. The high neck and leather pants certainly fit the Victoriana theme. Debenhams in the Ilac centre showcased this gorgeous outfit by Giles and Jenny Packham, a colourful floral dress and a fabulous feathered cape. A perfect fit for a princess.
Every princess needs a prince and at the launch we saw some royal looks from the wonderful Louis Copeland.
A very cool Coat themed outfit here from Warehouse. This grey coat looks amazing and edgy, teamed with this black leather mini skirt, also from Warehouse.
This lace two piece is a beautiful look, matching in with the Princesses and Queens theme. The jewels in the pale pink lace brought that bit of sparkle to the outfit at the same time as matching the lace underskirt.
These looks from H&M Collection represented the Shine theme at the launch, lots of sparkle and sheen!
