Canon launches Young Fashion Photographer of the Year competition with Dublin Fashion Festival
Canon Ireland today announced that it is the official camera partner to this year’s Dublin Fashion Festival. Organised by DublinTown, Dublin Fashion Festival runs from 7th – 13th September 2015 and is a week-long celebration that brings a fashion festival fix to the streets of Dublin.
As part of this partnership, Canon Ireland will sponsor the festival’s first ever young fashion photographer competition. Launching today the ‘Canon Young Fashion Photographer of the Year’ competition is open to all budding photographers from around Ireland and aims to help amateur fashion photographers gain experience and exposure in the fashion industry.
The Prize
The winning photographer will receive €500 worth of Canon products and a money can’t buy experience at London Fashion Weekend in September. The winner will be flown to London courtesy of Canon Ireland where they will have the chance to photograph a fashion show featuring some of the best known labels and models in the fashion industry.
Judging Panel
From all the entries received, the judges will shortlist a number of finalists and the winner will be announced at a special event on the 9th September at Bank of Ireland, College Green. This year’s judging panel includes top fashion photographer, Barry McCall, fashion editor of the Irish Independent, Bairbre Power and marketing manager of Canon Ireland, Jonothan Sultan.
How To Enter
Entrants can submit up to five examples of their work via the Dublin Fashion Festival website. All photographs submitted for judging cannot be published works, and the photographer must not have received payment for it. Closing date for entries is 5pm on Thursday, 20th August 2015.
In addition to the competition, Canon Ireland will also be hosting a number of free photography talks over the course of the festival with hints and tips from professional photographers. There will also be a number of promotional offers on Canon products in key retailers throughout the city over the course of the festival.
