Brereton was established by John Brereton in 1916 at 108 Capel Street, Dublin. Specialising in both new and antique jewellery the business has grown with the city of Dublin. John’s youngest son Jack joined the business in the 1930’s. By the early 1970’s the third generation of Breretons, Jack’s sons John and Liam, joined the company.
The jewellers have three stores across Dublin city centre – Capel Street, O’Connell Street and its flagship store at 33 Grafton Street. The small family run business which has had six years of double digit sales growth is run by Paul and Derek Brereton who are the fourth generation to run the organisation.
Paul Brereton graduated as a gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America in 2006. Paul now works closely with his father and uncle in the running of the three unique stores. He became general manager of the Grafton Street store when it opened in early 2012. Paul States:
‘Retail is about innovation as much as it is about service. We travel across the world to source the very best and most ethical raw materials for our jewellery. We listen to our customers and stay ahead of international trends always thinking how can we do that better’
With over 100 years of experience, Brereton’s have specialised in individually selecting diamonds and unique pieces as well as specialising in antique jewellery. The premium diamond pieces from Brereton’s include diamond, engagement and wedding rings, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces.
